“中国印·舞动的北京”有四项含义：其一是中国特点、北京特点与奥林匹克运动元素的巧妙结合。以印章为主体表现形式，将中国传统的印章和书法等艺术形式与运动特征结合起来，经过艺术手法夸张变形、巧妙地幻化成一个向前奔跑、舞动着迎接胜利的运动人形。人的造型同时形似现代“京”字的神韵，蕴含浓重的中国韵味。
以中国传统文化符号———印章（肖形印），作为标志主体图案的表现形式，主体图案基准颜色选择红色，传达和代表了中国文化喜庆、热烈的气氛。印章早在四、五千年前就已在中国出现，是渊源深远的中国传统文化艺术形式，并且至今仍是一种广泛使用的社会诚信表现形式，寓意北京将实现“举办历史上最出色一届奥运会的庄严承诺”。另外，红色历来被认为是中国的代表性颜色，具有代表国家、喜庆、文化传统的特点。
这个标志还代表着北京正以改革开放的姿态，欢迎世界各地运动员和人民欢聚北京，生动地表达出北京张开双臂，欢迎八方宾客的热情与真诚，传递着奥林匹克的理念与精神。印章中的运动人形刚柔相济，形象友善，在蕴含中国文化的同时，充满了动感，体现了“更快、更高、更强”的奥林匹克精神，以及以运动员为核心的奥林匹克运动原则。
其二是城市加年份的标准字体设计别出心裁、独树一帜。“中国印·舞动的北京”字体部分采用了汉代竹简文字的风格，将这一字体的笔划和韵味有机地融入到“B ei� jing 2008 ”字体之中，自然、简洁、流畅，与会徽图形和奥运五环浑然一体。字体符合市场开发目的，与标志主体图案风格相协调，避免了未来在整体标志注册与标准字体注册中因使用现成字体而可能出现的仿冒侵权法律纠纷。
其三是总体结构与独立结构比例协调。“中国印·舞动的北京”中的中国印、B ei jing 2008 和奥运五环三部分之间在布局及比例关系方面近乎完美。每一部分独立使用时比例合理，不失协调。
其四是有利于形象景观应用和市场开发。国际奥委会知识产权注册机构认为，“中国印·舞动的北京”之主体图案具有作为独立商标注册的条件，在城市景观布置、场馆环境布置等方面蕴含着巨大的潜力。
